Women and Gender in Global Perspectives Program RESEARCH
AREAS: My research focuses on gender,
development and globalization issues including strategies to improve
conditions during economic and financial crises. I have written on gender
aspects of reforms in China and other developing countries, risk and
international economic crises, transnational care work, and cross-border
sourcing. Current projects focus on human security issues of immigrants
and their host communities in small towns and rural areas of the Midwest
in the US, gender issues in China since WTO accession, and equity in
