BARBARA A. YATES INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH AWARD

INFORMATION ON THE RECIPIENTS

The Barbara A.Yates International Research Award, established by the founding director of WGGP (originally the WID Office), supports graduate students enrolled in WGGP's Gender Relations in International Development (GRID) Minor Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Deadline for the application is February 16, 2005.

The award is designed to support policy-oriented research on socioeconomic issues related to women and gender in developing countries. Awards may be used for study on campus or research abroad. One award of up to $500 will be made for the 2004-2005 academic year. The award will increase to a fellowship in coming years.


Eligibility: To be eligible, applicants must:
1. Be current or newly accepted graduate students at the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
2. Be enrolled in the Gender Relations in International Development (GRID) graduate minor.
3. Have demonstrated academic excellence.


Applications should include the following:
1. A completed application form.
2. A personal statement not to exceed four double-spaced pages
describing the applicant's research, qualifications, and career goals.
3. A current curriculum vitae.
4 An official college or university transcript.
5. Two letters of recommendation.
