Although many nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships are available for graduate and undergraduate study and/or research, competition is steep. The Office administers several prestigious scholarships for University of Illinois students and alumni. Throughout the application process, we provide advice and feedback for applicants.

In addition to our multiple web pages, the office twice annually publishes a scholarships newsletter Dec 04, July 05, Dec 05, July 06, Dec 06, July 07, Dec 07. Hopefully, these resources will assist applicants and their mentors in navigating through the prestigious scholarships process.

Despite the highly competitive nature of these programs, University of Illinois applicants have competed successfully over the years.  This year alone, for example, a University of Illinois student won a Luce Scholars award to spend a year in Asia, and eight Illinois students were offered Fulbright grants to study, conduct research, or teach English in Denmark, Germany, Greece, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Spain, and Ukraine. In addition, seven Illinois undergraduates were awarded nearly full scholarships for study abroad in Brazil, China, Egypt, Japan, Korea, and Russia.
